Washington County has designated our Civil Rights Officer to be our ADA Coordinator. This Civil Rights Officer works in the Office of Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement. They ensure our compliance with civil rights laws, including the ADA.

The ADA Coordinator helps us to follow accessibility requirements for public facilities. The ADA Coordinator learns about ADA-related concerns. When an issue is reported in the public right-of-way, LUT's Public Right-of-Way ADA Coordinator will be involved in the process.

Our request for accommodation and grievance process follows the County's administrative procedures:

Overview of process

Requests for accommodation should be made to:

Requests should include:

  • The name and contact information of the person making the request.
  • Specific details about the accommodation or modification requested.

 

The following timeline is set for the ADA coordinator to respond to the person submitting the request.

  • Within 10 business days, the ADA coordinator will:
    • Respond to the person submitting the request for accommodation to acknowledge the request.
    • Notify the LUT Public Right of Way ADA Coordinator of the requested accommodation.
       
  • Within 60 business days, the Public Right-of-Way ADA Coordinator will:
    • Ask for necessary information or clarification about the request.
    • Identify possible resolutions.
    • Contact the person submitting the grievance to discuss our conclusions and possible solutions.
    • Make the accommodation if it is not a financial hardship or administrative burden to do so.

 

Process for appeals:

At any time up to 15 days after this process a written appeal may be submitted to the County Administrator:

The County Administrator's office will respond within 15 days and ask for additional information, if needed.

Every reasonable attempt will be made by the County to remedy the disability complaints or grievances in a timely manner subject to staff and budget constraints.

The person submitted the request for accommodation may file a complaint with the Department of Justice or other appropriate agency at any time. The County will notify the complainant of their rights. Use of the County's grievance procedure is not a prerequisite to pursuing other remedies.
